Dr Liz Onley provides routine antenatal care to both low and high-risk pregnancies. Low Level Laser can be used to help speed up the healing process, reduce inflammation and pain to the breasts and nipples. Common conditions that can be treated are cracked nipples, mastitis, and blocked milk ducts. Immediate pain relief has been reported by many of our patients who can continue to breastfeed during the treatment process. Our female Laser Consultant will perform an examination and a treatment plan will be provided. Treatment takes around 5-10 minutes and will not cause any damage to the breast tissue either internally or externally. Most women will only require one treatment.

Many women are left with a thick and uncomfortable vaginal scar after childbirth. Laser treatment for vaginal scarring involves no down time and no needles with minimal discomfort. The laser stimulates new collagen growth and promotes natural healing which remodels the scar into healthier tissue. Treatment is relatively pain free.
An assessment is completed by Dr Liz Onley and then it is usual for 2-3 treatments to be scheduled.

- Tummy Only Facials
Oral Restriction – Tongue/Lip Tie
Oral restriction or tongue tie release involves releasing a fibrous band and a tight mucous membrane which is acting to restrict movement. This can affect feeding habits in babies and for older patients affect speech. Oral restrictions can also be present in adults.
Assessment of Tongue/Lip ties involves a discussion with our General Practitioner, Dr Liz Onley about your baby/child’s feeding history and behaviours followed by a physical examination.
Release of the oral restriction (frenotomy) is undertaken by Dr Liz Onley and is assisted by our Registered Midwife. The procedure is very quick and involves the release of a tight mucous membrane in the mouth.
-
It is recommended that your baby/child fasts for two (2) hours prior to the release appointment. Our team provide a calm, comforting and safe environment during and after the release procedure. For older children, numbing gel is applied to the area prior to the release and for babies, they can be breast fed or bottle fed directly after the release.
Adults and older children are advised to perform exercises for 2 months prior to release. These exercises are provided at the initial consultation.
-
Initially, it may be useful to have paracetamol on hand in case your baby/child needs it.
The mouth heals quickly, and you will be given detailed information on wound care and sucking exercises for your baby or child. These exercises are important in ensuring that the release is successful.
It may be recommended by our team that you seek assistance with healing by employing the help of allied health professionals or body workers as oral restrictions can affect the whole body. We will provide you with a list of local therapists if this is required. Lactation consultants may also be useful to assist with getting your breastfeeding on track.
A review of the tie release will be scheduled for 1 week and 4 weeks post release.
Gynaecological Laser Treatments
We offer gynaecological laser treatments to treat female stress urinary incontinence, vaginal laxity and Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome. This treatment is gentle, minimally invasive and requires no down time.
A specialised gynaecological laser probe is used to radiate gentle heat through the vaginal wall, working at the cellular level. The laser stimulates new collagen growth, promotes shrinking and tightening of the vaginal mucosa tissue and creates a mechanical pull to the collagen rich endopelvic fascia. Dr Liz Onley will perform an assessment and a comprehensive treatment plan will be provided to you.

After childbirth, many women can relate to issues with sneezing, jumping, going to the gym or trying to run or jog. This laser treatment allows women to regain control and activity in their lives again. It is minimally invasive, non-surgical and involves minimal discomfort.
-
After childbirth and during menopause a degree of laxity can occur in the vaginal area. Our treatment can strengthen the vaginal wall and rebuild collagen to promote a healthier, stronger, tighter vagina. This can improve sensation during sexual intercourse and orgasm.
-
Usually, 2-3 treatments are required to treat gynaecological conditions. There should be no interruption to your daily routine after treatment, your vagina may feel warm, but no pain should be present.
Exercise, lifting or any strenuous activity where stress is put on the core muscles or the pelvic floor must be avoided for around 1 week. Sexual intercourse should be avoided for 1 week, allowing the area to settle post treatment.
Iron Infusions
Low iron levels can make us feel fatigued and weak. Blood tests will identify when you are low in iron. Sometimes, an iron infusion may be necessary to replenish iron in our bodies.
Dr Liz Onley can provide iron infusions for patients who suffer from low iron, including during pregnancy.
Contraception
Dr Liz Onley is trained in inserting and removal of both Mirena, copper IUDS and Implanons. You can provide your own script or request an appointment for a script issue prior to your insertion appointment.
Appointments are also available with Dr Liz Onley to discuss the best form of contraception for you and for script issue.
Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
Menopausal hormonal therapy (MHT) (formerly known as HRT) is when hormones are used to treat the symptoms of menopause including hot flushes, poor sleep, low sex drive and night sweats. MHT helps to restore hormonal levels which may improve menopause symptoms.
Hormone replacement therapy is also beneficial to men. Symptoms such as reduced muscle strength, reduced energy, reduced sex drive and reduced sexual performance can be treated with HRT.
